Last Saturday (3/19) Old Cutters and Coldwell Banker Distinctive Properties hosted the second family event at the Old Cutters Park in Hailey, ID.  In spite of the weather and low temperatures families, dogs and friends came out to participate in the Winter Family Carnival events.  There was a Dog Sled Dash for 5yrs and under – won soundly by Erik Baker and his dog Scooby — Parents pulling kids on sleds, kids pulling kids on sleds and a 3-legged race in the snow.  It was a fun filled afternoon and 1st, 2nd and 3rd place ribbons were awarded to almost all the participants.   We are looking forward to our next Family Event in the Park — July 2011.  Keep checking for details as we get closer.

Sun Valley, Idaho, January 11, 2011 – After several months and many candidates, Coldwell Banker Distinctive Properties tapped the Colorado marketing firm of Social Image Media Group to run its regional and local marketing efforts.  “I am very excited for our company, our agents, and our clients to have the marketing expertise of Angie and her company working for us,” said Todd Conklin, CEO.  “With firms in Colorado and Idaho vying for the job, the competition was strong, but Social Image Media Group earned it.”

Social Image Media Group and its owner Angie Robinson specialize in integrating traditional and social media marketing platforms to maximize exposure. This “New Media Marketing” as Robinson calls it, is far more effective than typical marketing strategies currently used by many real estate firms and accomplishes a more comprehensive worldwide exposure.  Robinson and her company will be packaging the Coldwell Banker Brand to best serve the Coldwell Banker Distinctive Properties agents, brokerage and rental clients, maximizing its resort market presence.

Coldwell Banker Distinctive Properties Sun Valley Give Back

Agents, staff and family members from Coldwell Banker Distinctive Properties in Ketchum joined together to help serve and provide food items for the Souper Super at the St. Charles Catholic church in Hailey on December 16th.  Fifty meals were served at church and about 25 meals were prepared for people to take home.  Stephanie Reed VP of Sales and Marketing is quoted about helping.  “It is very fulfilling to know you are making someone or a family feel cared for and special.  Each time I volunteer I feel a little closer to our community.”

Coldwell Banker Distinctive Properties volunteers at a local non-profit each month, to help give back to the community.  In the past 6 months agents from Coldwell Banker Distinctive Properties have donated over 50 hours to various local non-profits – Hunger Coalition, Sagebrush Arena and Center for Community Health are a few.  All of the agents look forward to helping out a new organization each month and we are always looking for additional ideas for other organizations that need support.  Contact Theresa Pemberton at Coldwell Banker Distinctive Properties to find out more, at 622-3400 or email at

Holiday Traditions

Just recently I read an article about family holiday traditions and it got me thinking about some of our own traditions that we had growing up as kids.  Growing up in a small town in southern Idaho the holidays were always about family, friends and helping neighbors.  Holiday parties all month long, at church, school, local events and my parents work parties.  During the holidays we where always surrounded by friends and family which made the holiday even more special.  During that time of year it was also a time where we would extend our family and be able to help out those that needed a little extra during that time of year.   Even as I left home this has been something that I have always tried to continue to do wherever I might be living that year, which have become some of my favorite memories.  Other memories that I always look back on are the Christmas Eve nights at my grandparents, sitting by the fire eating homemade chili and listening to stories of when they were kids and opening gifts that were sent to us by family members afar.  Then, getting ready to go to church listening to the chimes playing christmas hymns and walking to church with my family, usually while it was snowing on a cold crisp night and being amazed at how quite and peaceful it was and remembering how blessed I was to be there at that moment.

Living here in Sun Valley I see a lot of these same traditions both from the people who live here and from the people who visit.  This time of year for everyone is about friends and family and here in Sun Valley we get the opportunity to include everyone with all the different events that happen through out the season.  Many of the people who visit Sun Valley during the holiday season have done so for years.  It is great to see the different generations that come back year after year and introduce new generations to the magic that is Sun Valley.  I know for me Sun Valley has always been part of our family tradition.  Whether coming up to cut our Christmas tree, ice skating on the lodge rink, or to go up to Galena to go cross-country skiing, snow shoeing or hitting the slopes on baldy, there is just a special feeling in the air this time of year that can’t be explained.

We here at Coldwell Banker Distinctive Properties would like to wish everyone a Happy Holiday season.  Whether you are coming for the first time or you are a long time return visitor, Coldwell Banker Distinctive Properties would love to help you and your family make Sun Valley part of your family tradition for a long time to come.

Happy Holidays and a Very Blessed New Year
